Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers work by replacing lost volume by placing a gel made from hyaluronic acid underneath the skin. Hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain moisture, which leads to that plump youthful look.

The body creates hyaluronic acid naturally, but as we age the amount depletes, leading to volume loss in areas like the cheeks. Based on the look you want to achieve, our expert injectors at Vitality strategically place your dermal fillers for natural-looking volume restoration.

We offer both Juvederm and Restylane fillers at Vitality Anti-Aging Center. Both types of filler use hyaluronic acid, but Restylane has a bit more structure to its formula. This means we typically recommend Juvederm fillers for addressing fine lines, while Restylane can target areas with more comprehensive volume loss like the cheeks.

During your consultation, your provider will talk through which type of filler makes the most sense for you based on the areas you’re looking to treat.

Dermal fillers are excellent for helping treat wrinkles caused by volume loss. These are called “static” wrinkles, because they are always present regardless of your facial expressions.
If you’re dealing with “dynamic” wrinkles, or ones caused by facial expressions, we might recommend a treatment like Botox or Daxxify to help relax the muscles that cause those wrinkles. Many of our patients benefit from custom treatment plans that include a combination of wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers to provide a more comprehensive wrinkle treatment.

The best part about dermal fillers is that you’ll be able to see your results almost immediately. It’s normal for there to be some bruising and swelling, but this will go away within the first 24 to 48 hours after your treatment. Some swelling may last up to a week.

Dermal filler results typically last 9 to 12 months, but it depends on the exact filler formula, your body’s metabolism, and the treatment area. Treatment areas that have more movement like the eyes and lips might dissolve the filler faster, whereas stable areas like the cheeks and forehead might see results last longer.

After your treatment, we’ll talk through the specific aftercare guidelines with you. Our general recommendations are:

• If you’re experiencing any pain or swelling, use ice in the first 24 hours to help.
• If bruising occurs after the first 24 hours, apply heat.
• Alcohol in the first 24 hours may increase bruising.
• Do not massage the injection areas.
• Avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours.
• You may use mineral powder after injections, but avoid liquid makeup for 24 hours.
